Save the date 27 May for the first stage of the 26th air tour of France, “Childhood Dreams”, at Dole-Jura airport, with the Existe En Ciels association, partnered by the Jura Lions Club.
Understanding and accepting difference, tolerance, inclusion is both a personal and a collective journey: the aircraft represents a means of discovering other worlds for ordinary and extraordinary children, as well as for all adults.
Changing the way we see handicap and difference is a fundamental step towards living together, and is of the utmost importance to us.
Altus Coating is supporting the amazing operation organized by the registered charity, Existe En Ciels. On 27 May, the association will be hosting the first stage of the “Childhood Dreams” air tour of France on the tarmac of Dole-Jura airport, as part of its educational project approved by the French education system and partnered by the “Chevaliers du Ciel” (Knights of the Sky) association, created 25 years ago.
The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region will be in the spotlight for this human adventure for France’s ordinary and extraordinary children.
Creative, artistic children, exploring the world
180 ordinary and extraordinary children from the Franche Comté area, covering more than 15 disability categories and/or structures, have been working together to produce an artistic piece representing travel and the discovery of continents*.
Their work of art will be on display on 27 May at Dole-Jura airport for the “Childhood Dreams” Tour of France afternoon. During the event, the children will be able to take off from the airport in one of the 30 aircraft of the tour caravan, which includes a Casa 235, a military transport aircraft.
This wonderful day invites some 175 children to a village of tents dedicated to brotherhood and sharing. Various fun events are organized, with the highlight of the day being a flight to admire the beautiful local landscapes from above, in celebration of the bicentenary of Pasteur’s birth in Dole.
There is nothing quite like a shared experience
Creating events to bring together ordinary and extraordinary children, offering them a shared experience before and during this air tour is a unique opportunity.
The Altus Coating team firmly believes that “living together” enables us to grow from our experiences and differences, and has chosen to make a modest contribution to support this initiative. Participating in this huge project means creating the conditions for getting together, enabling the children to fly and offering them a starring role in this exciting human adventure.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Cheer up, up, up and away!
*About the Existe En Ciels 2022 project
“This year, the Jura region is celebrating the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur’s birth. Existe en Ciels invited 180 children from the Jura to participate in an educational project lasting throughout the school year. They decided to create “together, let’s go further!”, from the hot air balloons of Pasteur’s era, to today’s airplanes. Before being able to get together this winter, they learned to keep in touch by sending greeting cards, which they made and sent to the various classes, sharing photos, messages of love and support with each other. To help them to understand what it means to share our planet, together they planted rose bushes in several of the Jura’s towns and cities.
These ordinary and extraordinary children have been meeting regularly to learn more about and actually experience difference; they have been learning together by way of games and joint construction projects, completing a symbolic world tour in hot air balloons (North and South America, Asia, Africa). They have made discoveries (nature, civilizations, landscapes, animals, monuments, traditions and customs, music, etc.). They have made things (drawings, frescoes, a tree, hot air balloons and a biplane). They even wrote a song together. Learning from other cultures, other continents, triggers their curiosity, helping them to imagine faraway children who live differently.
In April, they visited the hangars of Dole Tavaux airport, coming into close contact with aviation, the transport mode that can link one continent with another… as well as bringing the children together.
Finally, on 27 May, at the Childhood Dreams village, they will be exhibiting the fruits of their projects. The Chevaliers du Ciel pilots will thank them by transporting them way up into the skies, up above their problems, just to dream…”
